Southside Animal Hospital and Wellness Center

We have had our dogs seen here for years and can't say enough good things about our experiences. Everyone we've ever interacted with has been attentive, caring and knowledgeable. Lately we've seen Dr. Sandstrom - he has taken time to thoroughly talk us through our dog's diagnoses, answered every question and provided thoughtful opinions on how to move forward. We're honestly so thankful for the whole team here and are grateful to have such wonderful people work with our pets!

Very nice facility and staff. I was SHOCKED at the prices. How can you charge $50 for nail clipping!!?? You should tell your customers up front, specially if they have not been there before. I know things are expensive in AK, but 5 times the price??!! I was also told vaccines were $50. I was NOT told it was for EACH vaccine.

My experience was very positive. The staff was amazing and very patient and very helpful. Dr Sandstorm is very knowledgeable, Very easy to talk to. He doesn’t think he knows everything like most doctors and vets to do. He gives facts and what he thinks the best course of action would be in his opinion, then lets you decide. He explains the why’s and why nots. He doesn’t make you feel that you shouldn’t be asking questions, or that your questions are stupid, he is very patient. Hard to find a doctor like that these days. I have been with Southside Animal Hospital for 25 years. I have owned multiple Golden Retrievers and house cats, I raise Golden Retriever puppies and foster cats and kittens for a local nonprofit rescue organization.....I probably frequent the clinic more often than the traditional pet owner. The entire staff at SSAH is very professional, honest, caring and goes above and beyond to provide the best care for all my animals. I highly recommend SSAH to any pet owner. I would give the 10* if I could 🙂

Well, life is a blessing. I admit that we enjoyed many years with the quality care from Dr Ecklund and Dr Schmidt. Very sad to see them no longer running this facility. In fact, neither work there. I wish the new owners would have been honest with us months ago when we kept calling for an appointment. Well, wherever these Drs go we will follow. They are the best! Great people and excellent Drs. Now we are looking for a new clinic, not interested in the new ownership here. 😞

I have been going to Southside for many years for my pet care (cats & dogs). They, the Docs, the front desk staff & Vet techs, are the best, so welcoming and professional. We love them all.
